There’s something magical about spring—the way the air softens, the blooms burst forth, and the world feels like it’s waking up again. For me, this season always brings a renewed sense of peace, clarity, and creativity. As the days grow longer and the sun shines a little brighter, I find myself naturally leaning into fresh ideas and imaginative thinking, especially in my work as an event designer and planner.

This week, I had the joy of attending the Emerge Event Collective Retreat, an inspiring and beautifully curated experience for event creatives. Designed to prioritize rest, reconnection, and professional growth, the retreat was a chance to step away from the daily demands of planning and instead pour into our own creativity and community.

Being surrounded by talented, like-minded professionals reminded me how powerful it is to be in rooms filled with purpose, vision, and shared values. From educational sessions to intentional networking, every moment of the retreat offered a sense of renewal.

Some of the retreat’s most memorable experiences took place at two stunning Houston venues—Lott Hall and Madera Estates. Both properties boast beautiful outdoor settings that brought the retreat’s theme to life. Whether it was a serene courtyard or the tree-lined paths, the natural beauty of each space sparked inspiration and offered a peaceful place to reflect.

As a creative, I often find my deepest peace and most original ideas in nature. Whether it's an early morning walk, a quiet moment under the trees, or simply observing how colors play across a flower petal, the outdoors offers an endless source of fresh perspective.

Design tip: The next time you’re feeling stuck or uninspired, take a walk outside. Notice the way nature pairs colors—deep greens with dusty rose, amber with lavender, soft neutrals with bold brights. These organic, often unexpected combinations can offer beautiful inspiration for your next event palette or design concept.

Spring is a reminder that growth takes time, but beauty always finds its way back. Here’s to fresh ideas, renewed energy, and creating with heart and intention this season.

Warmly,Kerris
